Tort claims non-public? · 26 October 08
Coos County has opted not to release a tort claim to The World newspaper in Coos Bay, according to a story printed Oct. 24.
The newspaper sought access to two tort claims filed with the county. One alleges workplace harassment, assault and other complaints about the assessor’s office, according to a story by reporter Jolene Guzman.
County officials failed to release the second tort claim “saying the notice was exempt from disclosure under Oregon public records law,” according to the story.
The county’s chief deputy assessor remains on leave while a related investigation is underway. He is set to take charge of the office in January.

That’s the first time I’ve heard that. I’ve always been able to get tort claims under Oregon public records law.
