We have some wonderful fops and dandies in this book. However, this beginning georgettd hero thinks heroine is after his money is absolutely classic. Georgette Heyer has an amazing ability to write fun, captivating stories filled with wonderful, well-developed characters. The wealthy friends he makes soon lead him into debt and Arabella decides she must accept Mr Beaumaris’s proposal in order to pay off Bertram’s debts.

Even though it was his fault to begin with, accidently setting off Arabella’s most impulsiveness, he does not for one moment go through the stupid gestures of being an idiot. To all appearances, he is disagreeable and unfriendly but he is not. I love romances that start with a misunderstanding!
