Come to the White Stag Building in Portland from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, for great discussions about writing, interviewing, pitches and innovation in our industry. Christian Gaston, editor of the News-Times in Forest Grove will share Internet databases that let reporters dig deep, check facts or develop story ideas on the fly, anywhere. 12:30 p.m. Sessions: Get the best from your interviews with tips on how to hone in on the best your sources have said with Tamara Hellman, assignment editor at KOIN Local 6 News and Pat Dooris of KGW TV. 1:45 p.m. Sessions: Get out your calculator and your red pencil and learn how to check facts like a pro with Janie Har of the Oregonian and Politifact Oregon. 3 p.m. sessions: Learn how turn your pitch into a yes from Sarah Max of 1895 Magazine and Denis Theriault of the Portland Monthly. |
